Cooking lessons, dressing up as Disney characters and a virtual mass dance on Tik Tok. These were some of the activities dreamt up by students from Methodist Girls’ School (MGS) as part of MGS Stay Creative! project. It was initiated for students to showcase their ideas that nurtured the joy of learning and sense of togetherness during Singapore’s circuit breaker period earlier this year. This is just one of the many stories that will be shared at the second Design Education Summit.

DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), in partnership with the SUTD-MIT International Design Centre, presents the 2nd Design Education Summit, a platform for educators and students to get updated on the best practices in design education.

Rethinking Design projects in a post-pandemic world, Using technology to enhance creativity in education, and the Design of learning experiences using play: these are some themes of stories shared by educators around the world, that will be celebrated at the 2nd Design Education Summit.

Attend the Summit on 4 February 2021, to be inspired by success stories of design education, learn about the latest trends and collaborate with other educators and industry professionals. Walk away with creative ideas and an expanded network that will serve to benefit the design education of students.

This convening platform is part of Dsg’s Design Industry Manpower Plan, and will support educators and design professionals in sharpening design education in Singapore and internationally, starting from building awareness and nurturing design mindsets in the young, to developing their skills and deepening their abilities.

This summit is for all educators who are interested in understanding the importance of design and wish to learn new teaching approaches. The Summit will cover a wide range of topics such as how to build 21st century skills, and social emotional learning, to advancing visual thinking skills to spark curiosity, fun and conversation with children to ignite their creativity, empathy and communication skills.

You will get an opportunity to learn from and interact with industry leaders who will share with you skills and knowledge required to prepare you for your future career.

The sessions will be conducted in English. Specific to the workshops, in the spirit of teamwork and collaboration, fellow delegates who are fluent in English will help you along.

Yes. You will need a digital device (e.g. smartphone/tablet) with good internet connection to attend the plenary sessions. However, for the workshop, as it is interactive, joining via tablet or mobile is not recommended. You will need to have a desktop computer or laptop that you can comfortably work on.

All registered delegates will be able to access the videos after the Summit. More information will be provided post-Summit.
